The American Psychological Association’s advisory on adolescent social media is clearer than the headlines: it is not one verdict. Some kids get support and practice they cannot get in the cafeteria. Some kids, especially those already anxious or lonely, get hit harder by the comparison machine.
Endless scroll, public likes, and alerts built for adults are a bad fit for a 12-year-old brain. Early adolescence usually needs more coaching. Older teens need more privacy, not a raid of the camera roll.
